35% Of the muscle tissue is composed of BCAAs (branched
chain amino acids: Valine, Leucine, Isoleucine). Up to 25% of exercise energy
can be derived from these BCAAs. These amino acids belong to the essential amino
acids, meaning that they have to be taken via nutrition or supplementation. These
BCAAs are different from other amino acids in the sense that they are transformed
immediately into muscle and not stored in the liver.
The need of amino acids is very high during muscular training, so it is better to
take these BCAAs immediately before and after a workout. When taken before training,
BCAAs curb muscle degradation during intense exercise. They also aid muscle recuperation
and reconstruction after exercise. |
